Oxandrolone Tablets

Mechanism

Oxandrolone binds to androgen receptors, stimulating protein synthesis and increasing nitrogen retention in muscles. This leads to enhanced muscle growth, improved recovery, and increased strength. It has relatively low androgenic activity compared to other anabolic steroids.

• Absorption: Well absorbed orally.
• Distribution: Widely distributed; binds to plasma proteins.
• Metabolism: Hepatic metabolism via CYP enzymes.
• Elimination: Excreted primarily in urine.
• Half-life: Approximately 9–10 hours.

Side Effects

• Liver dysfunction (elevated liver enzymes, cholestatic jaundice)
• Fluid retention and edema
• Changes in libido
• Acne, hair loss, or hirsutism
• Rare virilization in women

Contraindication

• Pregnancy and lactation
• Prostate or breast carcinoma in men
• Nephrosis or nephrotic phase of nephritis
• Severe hepatic impairment
• Hypersensitivity to oxandrolone

Interaction

• May enhance effects of anticoagulants (warfarin).
• Potential interaction with oral hypoglycemics and insulin.
• Concomitant use with hepatotoxic drugs increases liver risk.

Warning and Precautions

• Use under medical supervision in patients with neuropathy or seizure disorders.
• Monitor renal function during long-term therapy.
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound seizures.
• Store at 25°C; excursions permitted to 15–30°C.
• Keep out of reach of children.
