Mechanism

Oxaceprol inhibits leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells and reduces migration into inflamed tissues. This leads to decreased release of inflammatory mediators, reduced tissue damage, and relief of pain and swelling in osteoarthritis.

Pharmacokinetics

  • Absorption: Well absorbed orally; sustained release ensures prolonged plasma levels.
  • Distribution: Widely distributed in connective tissues.
  • Metabolism: Minimal hepatic metabolism; largely excreted unchanged.
  • Elimination: Excreted via urine.
  • Half-life: ~5–7 hours (extended with SR formulation).

Side Effects

  • Mild gastrointestinal discomfort
  • Nausea
