Nimesulide + Dicyclomine

Tablet

This combination provides dual action: Nimesulide, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), reduces pain and inflammation, while Tizanidine, a centrally acting muscle relaxant, alleviates muscle spasms. Mechanism

Nimesulide: Inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis, thereby lowering pain and inflammation.
Tizanidine: Acts as an α2-adrenergic agonist in the central nervous system, decreasing excitatory neurotransmitter release and reducing muscle spasticity.

Pharmacokinetics

  • Absorption: Both drugs are well absorbed orally.
  • Distribution: Widely distributed, cross blood-brain barrier (Tizanidine).
  • Metabolism: Nimesulide metabolized hepatically; Tizanidine via CYP1A2.
  • Elimination: Excreted mainly via urine and feces.
