Nasal Spray

This nasal spray combines a fast-acting decongestant with a moisturizing agent for effective and comfortable relief from nasal blockage. Xylometazoline provides rapid decongestion by constricting swollen nasal blood vessels, while Sorbitol Solution (70%) acts as a humectant to retain moisture and prevent dryness of the nasal mucosa.
The combination ensures quick relief from congestion along with improved nasal comfort, reducing irritation commonly associated with decongestant sprays.

Mechanism

Xylometazoline
Acts as an alpha-adrenergic agonist, causing vasoconstriction of nasal blood vessels, thereby reducing mucosal swelling and relieving nasal congestion.
Sorbitol
Acts as a humectant, retaining moisture in the nasal mucosa, reducing dryness and irritation, and improving patient comfort during use.

Side Effects

  • Nasal irritation or dryness
  • Rebound congestion with prolonged use

Contraindication

  • Hypersensitivity to Xylometazoline or any component
  • Narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Severe hypertension or cardiovascular disease
  • Children below recommended age (for adult strength)

Dosage

  • 1 spray in each nostril 2–3 times daily or as directed by the physician
  • Do not use for more than 5–7 days continuously

DRUG INTERACTIONS

  • MAO inhibitors: Increased risk of hypertension
  • Tricyclic antidepressants: Enhanced vasoconstrictive effect
  • Other sympathomimetics: Additive effects

Warning and Precautions

  • For nasal use only
  • Avoid prolonged use to prevent rebound congestion
  • Avoid contact with eyes
  • Use cautiously in patients with hypertension, diabetes, or thyroid disorders
  • Maintain hygiene of spray nozzle; do not share
  • Discontinue use if irritation persists
  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Keep out of reach of children
