Oxymetazoline

Nasal Spray

This pediatric nasal spray contains Oxymetazoline, a long-acting topical nasal decongestant specifically formulated for children. It provides rapid and sustained relief from nasal congestion by constricting dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This reduces swelling, clears blocked nasal passages, and improves airflow, allowing easier breathing.
The lower pediatric strength ensures effective relief with a safer profile when used as directed. The formulation begins to act within minutes and provides prolonged relief (up to 10–12 hours), making it suitable for day and night symptom control during cold and allergy conditions.

Mechanism

Oxymetazoline
Acts as a selective alpha-adrenergic agonist (primarily α1 and partial α2 receptor activity), causing vasoconstriction of arterioles in the nasal mucosa. This leads to reduced blood flow, decreased mucosal edema, and rapid decongestion of nasal passages. The prolonged receptor binding contributes to its long duration of action compared to other decongestants.
