Oxymetazoline

Nasal Spray

This nasal spray contains Oxymetazoline, a long-acting topical decongestant formulated for adults. It provides rapid and sustained relief from nasal congestion by constricting dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This action reduces swelling, clears blocked nasal passages, and improves airflow, allowing easier breathing.
The formulation begins to act within minutes and offers prolonged relief for up to 10–12 hours, making it highly effective for both daytime and nighttime congestion. It is especially useful in conditions like cold, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis where quick decongestion is required.

Mechanism

Oxymetazoline
Acts as a selective alpha-adrenergic agonist (α1 and partial α2 activity), causing vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This leads to reduced mucosal edema, decreased nasal resistance, and improved airflow. Its prolonged receptor binding contributes to extended duration of action compared to other decongestants.
