Lactitol acts as an osmotic laxative, helping increase water content in the stool and facilitating its passage, while Ispaghula Husk is a bulk-forming fibre that absorbs water and increases stool bulk. The combination helps soften stools and promote easier bowel evacuation. Mechanism of Action

Lactitol is an osmotic laxative. It reaches the colon and is metabolised by colonic bacteria, increasing the osmotic load within the colon and promoting retention of water in the bowel. This helps soften stools and facilitate bowel movement.
Ispaghula Husk is a bulk-forming fibre. It absorbs water and increases stool volume, helping produce softer, bulkier stools and supporting normal bowel evacuation.
The combination provides complementary laxative activity: Lactitol promotes water retention and stool softening, while Ispaghula Husk increases stool bulk and water content. Together, they facilitate easier passage of stools.

Contraindication

  • The product should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Lactitol, Ispaghula or any component of the formulation.
  • It should not be used in patients with suspected or known intestinal obstruction, bowel obstruction or ileus, or where there is a risk of gastrointestinal blockage.
  • Ispaghula-containing preparations should not be taken by patients who have difficulty swallowing or significant swallowing disorders because inadequate fluid intake can increase the risk of obstruction/choking.

Directions for Use:

  • Empty the powder from the sachet into a glass.
  • Add 100 ml water.
  • Stir well until the powder is evenly dispersed in the water and drink immediately.

  • Take with adequate fluid.
  • Do not swallow the granules dry.
  • Do not use in patients with suspected intestinal obstruction or bowel blockage.
  • Use only as directed by the physician or healthcare professional.
