Mechanism

Acebrophylline exhibits bronchodilatory, mucoregulatory and anti-inflammatory pharmacological activity. Its bronchodilator action is associated with increased cyclic AMP levels in bronchial smooth muscle, promoting relaxation of the airways. Its mucoregulatory component helps reduce the viscosity of respiratory secretions and supports mucociliary clearance. Acebrophylline also has activity that may reduce the production of certain inflammatory mediators involved in airway inflammation.
