Dicyclomine is used to treat a certain type of intestinal problem called irritable bowel syndrome. Dimethicone is promoted as a defoaming agent for relief of abdominal pain due to retained gas and for "colic" It helps to reduce the symptoms of stomach and intestinal cramping. This medication works by slowing the natural movements of the gut and by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestines.

Indications:
● Oral solution is indicated for the treatment of functional bowel/irritable bowel syndrome
● Gastric Distention
● Functional digestive disorders
● Stomach pain

Mechanism:
Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic drug used to relax the smooth muscles of the intestines. Dicyclomine achieves its action partially through direct antimuscarinic activity of the M1 and M2 receptors, and partially through antagonism of bradykinin and histamine. Dicyclomine non-competitively inhibits the action of bradykinin and histamine, resulting in direct action on the smooth muscle, and decreased strength of contractions seen in spasms of the ileum.
Dicyclomine is absorbed from GIT with volume of distribution for a 20mg oral dose is 3.65L/kg. The metabolism of dicyclomine has not been well researched and the drug is 79.5% eliminated in the urine and 8.4% in the feces with the half-life of approximately 1.8 hours.
Dimethicone relieves flatulence by dispensing and preventing formation of mucus surrounding gas pockets in the gastro-intestinal tract. It lowers the surface tension of the gas bubbles and brings together all the small bubbles of gas (coalesce) to form a large bubble, which is then expelled. Thus the gas is freed by belching or passing flatus. Dimethicone helps to relieve pain and bloating caused by trapped wind. Dimethicone is not absorbed or absorbed in very minimal quantities that account only for 0.001-0.2% of the administered dose
